Size: New Recipe! 6.5kg
Description

Large breeds — Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats, Ragdolls — have jaws that make standard kibble almost pointless to chew. Purizon Large Adult uses XL kibble to encourage proper chewing, with chondroitin and glucosamine for the joint load that comes with size.

Why your cat will love it

  • XL kibble sized for big jaws — encourages chewing rather than swallowing whole
  • 42% protein with 70% carefully selected meat and fish
  • Chondroitin and glucosamine — natural cartilage building blocks
  • Plant fibre helps move swallowed hair through, reducing hairballs
  • Omega-3 and omega-6 for a shiny coat
  • 30% fruit, vegetables and herbs, completely grain-free

Features & specification

  • Sizes: 400g, 2kg (5 x 400g) and 6.5kg
  • Life stage: adult cats of large breeds — complete dry food
  • Also suitable for neutered cats — follow the lower end of the feeding table
  • Made in Europe, no artificial preservatives, taste enhancers or colours

Ingredients

25% fresh chicken, 21% dried poultry protein (8% chicken), 12% dried fish, potato starch, dried peas, 5% fresh turkey meat, 4% chicken fat, 2% hydrolysed poultry liver, dried brewer's yeast, 1% powdered egg, linseed, fish oil (100% salmon oil), apple pomace, guar meal, chicory inulin, potassium chloride, dried cranberries, 0.12% hydrolysed chicken cartilage (source of chondroitin), dried parsnips, dried beetroot, 0.09% hydrolysed shellfish (source of glucosamine), dried blueberries, dried blackcurrants, dried rose hip, dried herbs (chamomile, nettle, fennel, blackberry leaves), olive extract.

Contains hydrolysed shellfish — relevant if your cat has a shellfish sensitivity.

Additives per kg: vitamin A (15,000 IU), vitamin D3 (1,500 IU), vitamin E (150 IU), vitamin C (55mg), niacin (130mg), calcium D-pantothenate (43mg), vitamin B2 (22mg), vitamin B1 (12mg), vitamin B6 (12mg), vitamin B12 (100mcg), biotin (1,000mcg), folic acid (2.8mg), choline chloride (2,000mg), zinc oxide (150mg), iron sulphate (200mg), copper sulphate (15mg), sodium selenite (0.05mg), calcium iodate (2.5mg), taurine (1,400mg), L-carnitine (200mg). Antioxidants: tocopherol extracts from plant oils.

The wide ranges reflect activity level — a neutered indoor cat sits at the lower end, an active outdoor cat at the upper. Introduce new food gradually over roughly two weeks. Serve dry, store cool and dry, and always provide fresh drinking water.

Frequently asked questions

Why does kibble size matter for a large cat?
A big cat can swallow standard kibble whole, which gives no chewing benefit and no mechanical cleaning against the teeth. Larger pieces force proper chewing, which also slows eating.

How does fibre help with hairballs?
Long-haired large breeds swallow a great deal of hair grooming. Added fibre helps move it through the gut rather than letting it accumulate. Regular brushing still does more than any food.

Which breeds is this for?
Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest Cat, Ragdoll, Siberian and similar. A standard-sized cat would manage the XL kibble but gets no particular benefit from it.

Care

General Care & Storage
To get the most out of your Petszo delivery, please keep the following in mind:

  • Edibles: Keep food and treats tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry environment.
  • Fabrics & Beds: Gently wipe clean or wash at 30ºC (always check the individual label first). Do not bleach.
  • Safety First: Regularly check toys and accessories for damage and remove them if broken.
  • Note: Always refer to the specific packaging for exact instructions.

Getting the most out of your Petszo order comes down to storing things properly and checking them regularly. Here's what matters.

Food and treats

Keep dry food tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Resealing the bag or transferring it to an airtight container helps stop the fats going stale, which is the usual reason a dog or cat suddenly goes off a food they previously liked.

Opened wet food should be covered and refrigerated, and used within about 24 hours. Serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the fridge — cold food is noticeably less appealing to most pets and can be harder on sensitive stomachs.

Many treat pouches contain a small oxygen absorber sachet to keep the contents fresh. This isn't edible — remove and discard it before giving your pet the treat.

Beds, blankets and fabric items

Most fabric items can be gently wiped clean or machine washed at 30°C, but always check the individual care label first — padding and covers vary between products. Don't use bleach, as residue can irritate skin and paws.

Removable covers are worth washing more often than you'd think, particularly for pets with skin sensitivities.

Toys and chews

Check toys and accessories regularly for damage, and remove anything that's cracked, split or losing pieces. Small fragments are a genuine choking and blockage risk.

Always supervise your pet with chews and rawhide products, and take away any piece small enough to be swallowed whole. Match the chew size to your pet — a chew intended for a small dog won't last long with a large one, and creates more risk.

Harnesses, collars and leads

Check the fit periodically, especially on growing puppies and kittens. As a rule you should be able to slide two fingers comfortably under any strap — tighter risks rubbing, looser risks your pet backing out of it.

Inspect stitching, buckles and clips for wear, and replace anything showing damage before it fails on a walk.

Litter trays and small pet enclosures

Scoop clumping litter daily and top up as needed; a full change every 1–2 weeks is typical, more often with several cats sharing a tray. Clean the tray itself with hot water and mild detergent rather than strong disinfectants, some of which are toxic to cats.

For small pet enclosures, spot-clean soiled bedding daily and do a full change weekly.

Switching foods

Introduce any new food gradually over roughly 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts into the current food. Sudden changes are one of the most common causes of digestive upset, and it's easily avoided.

Always check the product packaging. The guidance here is general — individual products carry their own storage, washing and feeding instructions, and those take precedence. If you're unsure about something, or your pet has a specific health condition, speak to your vet.

Delivery

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of you placing them. Delivery time after dispatch depends on the shipping method chosen at checkout. You'll receive tracking details by email once your order is on its way, so you can follow its progress with the carrier.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes — delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. Orders below that threshold are charged at the rate shown at checkout before you pay.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We don't ship internationally at present. Please note that a small number of items are shipped from outside the UK and may take a little longer to arrive — this is noted on the individual product page where it applies.

What if my order is late?

Carrier delays occasionally happen, particularly around public holidays or in bad weather. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, get in touch with your order number and we'll chase it. If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we'll send a replacement or issue a refund.

How do I track my order?

Once your order ships, we email you tracking details. Use these to check live delivery status directly with the carrier.

Returns & refunds

Can I return something if I change my mind?

Yes. Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us you'd like to cancel, and a further 14 days to send the items back. Items need to be unused, in their original packaging and in the condition you received them. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. Full details are in our Refund & Return Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

We'll put it right. Under UK law you have up to 30 days to reject a faulty item for a full refund. For transit damage, contact us ideally within 48 hours of delivery with photos of both the item and the packaging. We cover return postage on faulty or incorrect items and will offer a full refund or a replacement.

Are there items I can't return?

For hygiene and safety reasons, opened or unsealed pet food and treats, used grooming products, personalised items and gift cards can't be returned unless they're faulty.

How long do refunds take?

Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether it's approved. Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving the goods, back to your original payment method.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes — email support@petszo.co.uk with your order number any time before dispatch. If it's already gone out, you can return it under the 14-day change-of-mind period once it arrives.

Products

Do I need a prescription for veterinary diets?

No prescription is legally required in the UK to buy veterinary diet foods. However, these products are formulated for diagnosed conditions, so we strongly recommend speaking to your vet before starting one — and having your pet checked at least every six months while feeding it. If your pet's health worsens, seek veterinary advice straight away.

How should I switch my pet to a new food?

Gradually, over roughly 7–10 days. Mix a small amount of the new food into the current one and increase the proportion each day. Switching abruptly is a common cause of digestive upset.

How do I store pet food once it's open?

Keep dry food in a cool, dry place, ideally resealed or in an airtight container to stop the fats going stale. Opened wet food should go in the fridge and be used within about 24 hours. Always check the individual packaging, as some products have specific requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This policy explains how we process, dispatch and deliver orders, and what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Delivery charges

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. For orders below that value, the delivery charge is calculated and shown at checkout before you complete your purchase — you'll never be charged an amount you haven't seen first.

2. Order processing and dispatch

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of the order being placed. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

Once your order has been processed you'll receive a confirmation email, followed by tracking details where available.

3. Delivery times

Time in transit after dispatch depends on the delivery method selected at checkout and your location. Total time to receive your order is therefore the dispatch window above plus the carrier's transit time.

A small number of products are shipped from outside the UK and take longer to arrive. Where this applies, it is stated clearly on the individual product page.

4. Delivery area

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We do not offer international shipping at present.

Please note that a small number of bulky items cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Where this restriction applies, it is noted on the product page.

5. Tracking your order

Once your order ships, we'll email you tracking information where available. You can use this to check the live delivery status directly with the carrier.

6. Delays

Some delays are outside our control — carrier backlogs, severe weather, and public holidays being the most common. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us with your order number and we'll investigate.

If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we will send a replacement or issue a refund.

7. Incorrect delivery addresses

Please check your delivery address carefully at checkout. If you spot a mistake, contact us immediately — we can usually correct it before dispatch. Once an order has shipped to an address you provided, we may not be able to recover it.

What has been changed?!

My large cat has been on these for years and they are the only kibble available of this truly large size, but since starting this most recent pack he has had awful stomach, diarrhoea, loose poo, horrendous farts! I bought the giant bag so I am really annoyed by this. They were the absolute best before, great size and great content, so what has been changed and why has this not been made clear?

Was a great product

I am unsure if the ingredients have changed I’ve fed my big girl this for over a year with no issues & loved it this time she’s starting to leave it and it’s giving an upset stomach & really loose poop, really disappointed and this was a large bag now wasted. ,

Amazing for my beast of a cat

He’s absolutely in love with this and he’s finally chewing his food so way less happy surprises from indigestion! His coat is shinier as well and since he’s got to chew this a bit more thoroughly he eats a bit slower now too!\n\nSo many of the more negative reviews are from people who can’t seem to read so please do ignore them! \n\nIf you’ve got a large cat, I’d highly recommend this!

Aleksandra
Two toddler Ragdolls love it

I have included this kibble in my 10 months old kittens. They'd just "hoover" kitten food without chewing, so I started mixing it with this large kibble. They chew nicely now and love it. This one always dissapears first, and kitten food (Purizon and Applaws) goes last.

Great for large moggy that eats too fast & shiny fur

Our large moggy would always gulp up his food super fast without chewing. With this food, combined with using a slow feeder bowl (we mix wet food from Carny with dry food), we can actually hear him crunching it up and it slows him down even further. Also, after just a week his fur has turned incredibly soft and shiny. Highly recommend!

My Maine coon adores it!!

My main coon loves this food and eats with relish!\n\nI used to feed him Orijen at twice the price. But every year, his teeth are bad and he needs professional cleaning. It’s too difficult for me to brush them. My other Bengal cat has perfect teeth, is 1 yr older and ate same food so it’s a genetic thing with him.\n\nThis is the only food he happily crunches away at!!\n\nNot only that, but his coat is amazingly soft, smooth and easy to brush (something else he hates haha).

Maine Coon sized food!

We have two Maine Coons who don't chew smaller kibble foods so we were delighted to find a grain free food for large breed cats. They eat it happily and it is a good quality.\nIt is slightly disappointing that it is receiving bad reviews because people haven't read the description properly and are buying this for small cats who can't cope with the size. It is a great food for the XL cats it is designed for!

Enormous, waste of money

I got some samples of purizon and my older cats loved it, so bought 6.5kg, only to find these are gigantic pellets that they simply can't eat. Royal waste of money. Thought it was large bag, was instead inedibley large food.

Upgraded review - our sabre tooth tigers prefer it now

Our cats previously rejected this kibble as too hard and refused to eat it. However, needs must and several months later we started to mix it with their regular smaller version of this kibble - they not only have got used to it, but seem to prefer it - fishing it out of the bowl to eat before the smaller ones.

Large Kibbles for the Lazy Chewer

My Maine Coon likes to gobble down his food without chewing, so love this product as the size of the kibbles forces him to chew his food.

Perfect for Maine Coons

Great for larger breeds (as indicated). My MC's love this...only issue at the moment seems to be stocking problems, but this has only been recently, as before was never out of stock.

Nothing like the old product

Kibble more than doubled in size and hard. My 2 cats struggle with this now. Will not buy again

Cats love it

Our mix of Maine Coon, Main Coon cross, Ragdoll cross and moggies love this, even the tiniest doesn’t have a problem with the size of the pieces. Only criticism is it’s forever out of stock resulting in one cat getting very poorly from change of food.

Too Big

These XL are too big for my moggy and my Persian. Didn't notice they were XL as I had always bought the normal size, which the cats love. Have had to start chopping them in half individually with a knife, as I bought a big bag, and can't afford to waste. Could we have to cat size and not the tiger, size back please?

G
Grace
Too Large

Our maine coon loves Purizon chicken and fish dry cat food, but unfortunately the product is no longer listed on the website. So I went ahead and bought this XL version and the cat refuses to eat them. He will nibble a few of them and then complain and do his usual routine when he wants food. I am having to cut them in half with a knife to make them smaller otherwise I have 6.5kg of food waste. I don't recommend these as a result. I am going to trymy cat on a different flavour of standard size.

not big enough but more varieties please

My Scottish Straight wolves down his food - he will just not chew! Result: i need to be his dentist once a week and remove plaque so that we won't see his teeth fall.. When I saw these XL kibbles I ordered the biggest bag. Gave him his first XL kibble full of excitement and... he wolved it down - no chewing! I was so disappointed.. \n\nSo how we do it???? I hold each kibble and let him bite off little by little, we get 3 bites per one kibble. NO MORE PLAQUE!

Good food

All mine seem to enjoy this wish they would do other flavours in the large breed to give them some variety

I can’t recommend more for this food

My male Maine Coon loves it. He is a very fussy cat with allergy reaction with his previous food. It took me two weeks or so to change to this food. He now loves it and his allergy reaction almost disappeared. He puts on weight and his fur is shining.

Dog biscuits

Had this for years but somehow ordered wrong \none. These are like dog biscuits. My poor little 16 year old cat can't break them so I'm having to bash them with a rolling pin. Didn't realise large was size of kibble thought it was size of bag

Large and crunchy!

Our Maine Coon loves these - the large size is great for his teeth and jaws. He loves to crunch! He also eats the Royal Canin Maine Coon cubes and Oral cubes but these Purizon large are twice the size of those and he definitely prefers them. More flavours please!
