Description

Hydrolysing protein breaks it into fragments too small for the immune system to recognise, which is why it's the standard approach for diagnosing and managing food intolerance. This diet uses hydrolysed soya protein with a single carbohydrate source.

Important — please read before ordering

  • Consult your vet before feeding a veterinary diet. They can advise on suitability and treatment.
  • Take your cat for a check-up at least every 6 months while feeding a veterinary diet.
  • If your cat's health worsens while using this product, seek veterinary advice immediately.

How it works

  • Hydrolysed protein with low molecular weight — fragments too small to trigger an allergic response
  • Single selected carbohydrate source — rice starch, minimising further allergy risk
  • Formulated for acceptance — important when a cat with intolerances is already reluctant to eat
  • Complete nutrition despite the restricted ingredient list

Features & specification

  • Type: complete dietetic dry food
  • For: kittens and adult cats with ingredient or nutrient intolerance
  • With taurine at 1,500mg/kg
  • Essential fatty acids at 4%

Ingredients

Rice starch¹, hydrolysed soya protein², soybean oil, minerals, cellulose, hydrolysed autolysate², pork fat, fish oil.

¹ carbohydrate source · ² protein source

Additives per kg: vitamin A (35,000 IU), vitamin D3 (970 IU), vitamin E (650 IU), taurine (1,500mg), iron (195mg), iodine (3mg), copper (20mg), manganese (72mg), zinc (180mg), selenium (0.21mg). Technological additives: bentonite (10,000mg).

Feeding guide

Cat's weight Daily amount
2kg 30g
3kg 45g
4kg 60g
5kg 80g
Over 5kg add 15g per additional kg

Feeding period: the manufacturer recommends 3–8 weeks initially. If signs of intolerance resolve, it can then be fed for up to a year. Consult your vet before starting or extending. Always ensure your cat has sufficient fresh water.

Frequently asked questions

How does hydrolysed protein avoid a reaction?
An allergic response is triggered when the immune system recognises a protein's shape. Hydrolysis breaks proteins into fragments small enough that recognition doesn't happen — so the protein still feeds the cat without provoking a reaction.

Why does the trial period matter?
An elimination diet only works if nothing else is eaten during it. That means no treats, no table scraps, no flavoured medication. Three to eight weeks is the minimum for skin symptoms to settle enough to judge.

Can kittens eat this?
Yes — it's formulated for kittens as well as adult cats, though a growing kitten on a restricted diet should be monitored by your vet.

Care

General Care & Storage
To get the most out of your Petszo delivery, please keep the following in mind:

  • Edibles: Keep food and treats tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry environment.
  • Fabrics & Beds: Gently wipe clean or wash at 30ºC (always check the individual label first). Do not bleach.
  • Safety First: Regularly check toys and accessories for damage and remove them if broken.
  • Note: Always refer to the specific packaging for exact instructions.

Getting the most out of your Petszo order comes down to storing things properly and checking them regularly. Here's what matters.

Food and treats

Keep dry food tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Resealing the bag or transferring it to an airtight container helps stop the fats going stale, which is the usual reason a dog or cat suddenly goes off a food they previously liked.

Opened wet food should be covered and refrigerated, and used within about 24 hours. Serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the fridge — cold food is noticeably less appealing to most pets and can be harder on sensitive stomachs.

Many treat pouches contain a small oxygen absorber sachet to keep the contents fresh. This isn't edible — remove and discard it before giving your pet the treat.

Beds, blankets and fabric items

Most fabric items can be gently wiped clean or machine washed at 30°C, but always check the individual care label first — padding and covers vary between products. Don't use bleach, as residue can irritate skin and paws.

Removable covers are worth washing more often than you'd think, particularly for pets with skin sensitivities.

Toys and chews

Check toys and accessories regularly for damage, and remove anything that's cracked, split or losing pieces. Small fragments are a genuine choking and blockage risk.

Always supervise your pet with chews and rawhide products, and take away any piece small enough to be swallowed whole. Match the chew size to your pet — a chew intended for a small dog won't last long with a large one, and creates more risk.

Harnesses, collars and leads

Check the fit periodically, especially on growing puppies and kittens. As a rule you should be able to slide two fingers comfortably under any strap — tighter risks rubbing, looser risks your pet backing out of it.

Inspect stitching, buckles and clips for wear, and replace anything showing damage before it fails on a walk.

Litter trays and small pet enclosures

Scoop clumping litter daily and top up as needed; a full change every 1–2 weeks is typical, more often with several cats sharing a tray. Clean the tray itself with hot water and mild detergent rather than strong disinfectants, some of which are toxic to cats.

For small pet enclosures, spot-clean soiled bedding daily and do a full change weekly.

Switching foods

Introduce any new food gradually over roughly 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts into the current food. Sudden changes are one of the most common causes of digestive upset, and it's easily avoided.

Always check the product packaging. The guidance here is general — individual products carry their own storage, washing and feeding instructions, and those take precedence. If you're unsure about something, or your pet has a specific health condition, speak to your vet.

Delivery

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of you placing them. Delivery time after dispatch depends on the shipping method chosen at checkout. You'll receive tracking details by email once your order is on its way, so you can follow its progress with the carrier.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes — delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. Orders below that threshold are charged at the rate shown at checkout before you pay.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We don't ship internationally at present. Please note that a small number of items are shipped from outside the UK and may take a little longer to arrive — this is noted on the individual product page where it applies.

What if my order is late?

Carrier delays occasionally happen, particularly around public holidays or in bad weather. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, get in touch with your order number and we'll chase it. If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we'll send a replacement or issue a refund.

How do I track my order?

Once your order ships, we email you tracking details. Use these to check live delivery status directly with the carrier.

Returns & refunds

Can I return something if I change my mind?

Yes. Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us you'd like to cancel, and a further 14 days to send the items back. Items need to be unused, in their original packaging and in the condition you received them. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. Full details are in our Refund & Return Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

We'll put it right. Under UK law you have up to 30 days to reject a faulty item for a full refund. For transit damage, contact us ideally within 48 hours of delivery with photos of both the item and the packaging. We cover return postage on faulty or incorrect items and will offer a full refund or a replacement.

Are there items I can't return?

For hygiene and safety reasons, opened or unsealed pet food and treats, used grooming products, personalised items and gift cards can't be returned unless they're faulty.

How long do refunds take?

Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether it's approved. Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving the goods, back to your original payment method.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes — email support@petszo.co.uk with your order number any time before dispatch. If it's already gone out, you can return it under the 14-day change-of-mind period once it arrives.

Products

Do I need a prescription for veterinary diets?

No prescription is legally required in the UK to buy veterinary diet foods. However, these products are formulated for diagnosed conditions, so we strongly recommend speaking to your vet before starting one — and having your pet checked at least every six months while feeding it. If your pet's health worsens, seek veterinary advice straight away.

How should I switch my pet to a new food?

Gradually, over roughly 7–10 days. Mix a small amount of the new food into the current one and increase the proportion each day. Switching abruptly is a common cause of digestive upset.

How do I store pet food once it's open?

Keep dry food in a cool, dry place, ideally resealed or in an airtight container to stop the fats going stale. Opened wet food should go in the fridge and be used within about 24 hours. Always check the individual packaging, as some products have specific requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This policy explains how we process, dispatch and deliver orders, and what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Delivery charges

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. For orders below that value, the delivery charge is calculated and shown at checkout before you complete your purchase — you'll never be charged an amount you haven't seen first.

2. Order processing and dispatch

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of the order being placed. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

Once your order has been processed you'll receive a confirmation email, followed by tracking details where available.

3. Delivery times

Time in transit after dispatch depends on the delivery method selected at checkout and your location. Total time to receive your order is therefore the dispatch window above plus the carrier's transit time.

A small number of products are shipped from outside the UK and take longer to arrive. Where this applies, it is stated clearly on the individual product page.

4. Delivery area

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We do not offer international shipping at present.

Please note that a small number of bulky items cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Where this restriction applies, it is noted on the product page.

5. Tracking your order

Once your order ships, we'll email you tracking information where available. You can use this to check the live delivery status directly with the carrier.

6. Delays

Some delays are outside our control — carrier backlogs, severe weather, and public holidays being the most common. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us with your order number and we'll investigate.

If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we will send a replacement or issue a refund.

7. Incorrect delivery addresses

Please check your delivery address carefully at checkout. If you spot a mistake, contact us immediately — we can usually correct it before dispatch. Once an order has shipped to an address you provided, we may not be able to recover it.

8. Contact us

For any questions about shipping or the status of an order:

Really helped my poorly cat

My 2 year old Oriental was being sick regularly and was very lethargic. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I tried him on Royal Canin gastrointestinal which helped but he still had occasional sickness and anorexia. I put him on the Purina HA and this has been a game changer. He eats like he is properly starving now and had so much energy and has resumed his mischievous behaviour and play. I have my young cat back for the first time in 6 months. So pleased.

Helped with IBD

My cat Monty has IBD with bouts of colitis. He was so poorly I was concerned we were getting to the end of the road as nothing was helping. He’s been on just these biscuits for nearly two weeks now and his explosive pooping 6 times per day has stopped. I’m so glad we tried it!

Great for sensitive belly’s

My cats have been eating this as my boy has allergies and sensitive stomach, they smell amazing and he enjoys them. Thank you

Hypoallergenic diet

The vet recommended this feed for our cat to add a bit more weight. After only a month of being on hypo his coat became thicker and softer. He is maintaining his weight at the moment but he is also eating other cat food as part of his diet.

Hypoallergenic cat biscuit purina

This is excellent and both cats love it. Small biscuits. Surprised to receive a small bag when I have always ordered a 3.5kg bag.

Highly recommended

This kibble is the only dry food my boy can tolerate. It's appetising and low in fat so a winner all round. A good choice for cats with IBD.

S

Add a little water

We found that our cats got constipated initially, so we now add a very small amount of warm water, which also helps release the smell of the kibble. Seems to help their digestive issues, but early days still!

BEWARE!

A vet advised us to give our BSH cat this food as she had symptoms of IBS. Having given this to her for 1 meal a day, though it improved her IBS symptoms after about 5 months her undercoat started to come out in big clumps, until eventually it has all come out and her top coat is now coarse. Having looked into this, we found that it should be given for 8-10 weeks or up to one year. This should be made much clearer on the description. Never again will we use this food!

All The Cats Love It!

This food seems to attract all of our rescue cats, even though it was originally purchased for the one with IBD. Two siblings even pester me whenever they want another bowl set down for them. Our IBD cat regularly enjoys it and paired with daily hypoallergenic wet food meals, she has been able to gain back the weight she lost while fighting IBD last year. This food has been so helpful in preventing the terrible emaciated look that IBD cats get as they continue to lose weight and muscle mass.

Very expensive and made my cat throw up

This did not go well with my cat and had to chuck it away

Vet suggested for IBD

So my two cat brothers are 10 years old. One has always had colitis flare ups, the other diagnosed IBD this year. I have introduced these biscuits and they seem to be helping both of them, so I’m really pleased and relieved.

Saved the day!

My cat has severe allergies, as in she is literally allergic to everything. She was losing her fur in clumps, scabbed skin, sneezing etc. so after a lot of trial and error attempts to cook for her we had to settle on this. I have to say that this is just what we needed. She is now fully furred and looks forward to feeding times. No issue with her toileting.

M
Matthew
Fixed toileting issues!

Since we adopted our Scottish fold he’s always had runny poos and refused to use the litter tray. Been to the vet, they’ve recommend different foods, tried supplements and nothing worked. This food changed everything overnight! His poos have firmed up and he uses the litter tray every time! And our other 2 cats like the food too. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

Queen & Alpha love the stuff

My 11 month old cat, Queen has had a hard time with food allergies. I have tried everything!! Insect protein diet, to other hypoallergenic cat food. I had to result to cooking her food so I knew what was in it. She would end up with sores on her belly, ears pretty much all over.\n\nHowever, she has been eating this food for 2.5 weeks and no issues I’ve had her from 10 weeks old and this is the 1st time her bowl movement has been fully formed literally from she started eating it. #winning!!

I got Dora from cat rescue and a lot of blood in her motions and after several tests it just a diet problem. She loves her food and is now 12yrs also Susie her house mate also enjoys the Purina hypoallergenic food..

They love it too much!

My two cats and kitten all love this food, and it's great that it's suitable for all of them. But it has an appetite stimulant that has made them all go a bit crazy for it. I used to be able to leave dry food out for them to graze on, but I can't anymore, and they even knocked the bag off the fridge to get at it! But it has sorted out my IBD kitty's tummy, and it's great that it doesn't have chicken in it, which she is also intolerant to, so carrying on with it for a while.

N
Noah
My cat likes it

Has to change to a hypoallergenic food as it seems any other cat food was giving my boy diarrhea with blood. This looks like rice crispies and smells a bit strange to me but he loves it. Made his bowel movements a lighter colour but (unless he's managed to eat a piece of the other cats food) no digestive issues. He says he'd recommend it to all other cats.

K
Kate
Great for cat with stomach issues

One of my cats has IBD and this food has worked really well for her - no upsets since we switched to this. My other cat has no stomach issues, but also really enjoys this food. It looks/smells a bit weird but they seem to love it!

L

Great but gave Diarrhea

My kitten aged 10 months has Diarrhoea and weight loss . He found this highly palatable and it’s the best dry food he’s had for paletability and he gained weight on it very quickly but unfortunately after 10 days his loose stools became like water so had to take him off it. I have read since that some cats react to the soya content. He’s now on z/d and is much improved but poop still not formed.
