Care

General Care & Storage
To get the most out of your Petszo delivery, please keep the following in mind:

  • Edibles: Keep food and treats tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry environment.
  • Fabrics & Beds: Gently wipe clean or wash at 30ºC (always check the individual label first). Do not bleach.
  • Safety First: Regularly check toys and accessories for damage and remove them if broken.
  • Note: Always refer to the specific packaging for exact instructions.

Getting the most out of your Petszo order comes down to storing things properly and checking them regularly. Here's what matters.

Food and treats

Keep dry food tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Resealing the bag or transferring it to an airtight container helps stop the fats going stale, which is the usual reason a dog or cat suddenly goes off a food they previously liked.

Opened wet food should be covered and refrigerated, and used within about 24 hours. Serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the fridge — cold food is noticeably less appealing to most pets and can be harder on sensitive stomachs.

Many treat pouches contain a small oxygen absorber sachet to keep the contents fresh. This isn't edible — remove and discard it before giving your pet the treat.

Beds, blankets and fabric items

Most fabric items can be gently wiped clean or machine washed at 30°C, but always check the individual care label first — padding and covers vary between products. Don't use bleach, as residue can irritate skin and paws.

Removable covers are worth washing more often than you'd think, particularly for pets with skin sensitivities.

Toys and chews

Check toys and accessories regularly for damage, and remove anything that's cracked, split or losing pieces. Small fragments are a genuine choking and blockage risk.

Always supervise your pet with chews and rawhide products, and take away any piece small enough to be swallowed whole. Match the chew size to your pet — a chew intended for a small dog won't last long with a large one, and creates more risk.

Harnesses, collars and leads

Check the fit periodically, especially on growing puppies and kittens. As a rule you should be able to slide two fingers comfortably under any strap — tighter risks rubbing, looser risks your pet backing out of it.

Inspect stitching, buckles and clips for wear, and replace anything showing damage before it fails on a walk.

Litter trays and small pet enclosures

Scoop clumping litter daily and top up as needed; a full change every 1–2 weeks is typical, more often with several cats sharing a tray. Clean the tray itself with hot water and mild detergent rather than strong disinfectants, some of which are toxic to cats.

For small pet enclosures, spot-clean soiled bedding daily and do a full change weekly.

Switching foods

Introduce any new food gradually over roughly 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts into the current food. Sudden changes are one of the most common causes of digestive upset, and it's easily avoided.

Always check the product packaging. The guidance here is general — individual products carry their own storage, washing and feeding instructions, and those take precedence. If you're unsure about something, or your pet has a specific health condition, speak to your vet.

Delivery

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of you placing them. Delivery time after dispatch depends on the shipping method chosen at checkout. You'll receive tracking details by email once your order is on its way, so you can follow its progress with the carrier.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes — delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. Orders below that threshold are charged at the rate shown at checkout before you pay.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We don't ship internationally at present. Please note that a small number of items are shipped from outside the UK and may take a little longer to arrive — this is noted on the individual product page where it applies.

What if my order is late?

Carrier delays occasionally happen, particularly around public holidays or in bad weather. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, get in touch with your order number and we'll chase it. If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we'll send a replacement or issue a refund.

How do I track my order?

Once your order ships, we email you tracking details. Use these to check live delivery status directly with the carrier.

Returns & refunds

Can I return something if I change my mind?

Yes. Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us you'd like to cancel, and a further 14 days to send the items back. Items need to be unused, in their original packaging and in the condition you received them. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. Full details are in our Refund & Return Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

We'll put it right. Under UK law you have up to 30 days to reject a faulty item for a full refund. For transit damage, contact us ideally within 48 hours of delivery with photos of both the item and the packaging. We cover return postage on faulty or incorrect items and will offer a full refund or a replacement.

Are there items I can't return?

For hygiene and safety reasons, opened or unsealed pet food and treats, used grooming products, personalised items and gift cards can't be returned unless they're faulty.

How long do refunds take?

Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether it's approved. Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving the goods, back to your original payment method.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes — email support@petszo.co.uk with your order number any time before dispatch. If it's already gone out, you can return it under the 14-day change-of-mind period once it arrives.

Products

Do I need a prescription for veterinary diets?

No prescription is legally required in the UK to buy veterinary diet foods. However, these products are formulated for diagnosed conditions, so we strongly recommend speaking to your vet before starting one — and having your pet checked at least every six months while feeding it. If your pet's health worsens, seek veterinary advice straight away.

How should I switch my pet to a new food?

Gradually, over roughly 7–10 days. Mix a small amount of the new food into the current one and increase the proportion each day. Switching abruptly is a common cause of digestive upset.

How do I store pet food once it's open?

Keep dry food in a cool, dry place, ideally resealed or in an airtight container to stop the fats going stale. Opened wet food should go in the fridge and be used within about 24 hours. Always check the individual packaging, as some products have specific requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This policy explains how we process, dispatch and deliver orders, and what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Delivery charges

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. For orders below that value, the delivery charge is calculated and shown at checkout before you complete your purchase — you'll never be charged an amount you haven't seen first.

2. Order processing and dispatch

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of the order being placed. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

Once your order has been processed you'll receive a confirmation email, followed by tracking details where available.

3. Delivery times

Time in transit after dispatch depends on the delivery method selected at checkout and your location. Total time to receive your order is therefore the dispatch window above plus the carrier's transit time.

A small number of products are shipped from outside the UK and take longer to arrive. Where this applies, it is stated clearly on the individual product page.

4. Delivery area

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We do not offer international shipping at present.

Please note that a small number of bulky items cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Where this restriction applies, it is noted on the product page.

5. Tracking your order

Once your order ships, we'll email you tracking information where available. You can use this to check the live delivery status directly with the carrier.

6. Delays

Some delays are outside our control — carrier backlogs, severe weather, and public holidays being the most common. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us with your order number and we'll investigate.

If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we will send a replacement or issue a refund.

7. Incorrect delivery addresses

Please check your delivery address carefully at checkout. If you spot a mistake, contact us immediately — we can usually correct it before dispatch. Once an order has shipped to an address you provided, we may not be able to recover it.

Great lead

I've been using this daily for about a year with my 25kg German Shepherd/Husky. It's strong, highly visible and is easy to clean and dry. Brilliant product much better than my old nylon one and I haven't had a single friction burn !

Light and easy to handle

Had my new 14 mth old Malinois out on the 10m today was very impressed with it , much nicer to handle than my other longline ( rubber grip one) , much much lighter and it stayed cleaner , although I did find it actually snagged the ground more than my previous one but not badly , prefer this one for feel and weight .

Brilliant for playing in river / lakes

Used the 10m version in the Lake District with our 7 month old Labrador. It was brilliant for use when he wanted to swim in the lakes and rivers because we could give him freedom to swim but still keep hold of him. Doesn’t absorb water like other leads so lighter to use and carry when wet. A very long line but takes up little space when coiled up. Wipes clean and doesn’t pick up grass / thistles / debris. Doesn’t get knotted like fabric leads. Strong and flexible. Worth the money.

excellent, very light

Nice lead, very light and visible at night. I previously used a training lead like a rope, but it slipped and I got severe rope burn. This one has never slipped off my hand.

Long lead

This product has transformed my dog’s life as it gives him a freedom he could never have on a flexilead. He can now wander at his own pace, sniffing around as he wants but I know I could still get him back if he decided to try to do a .

Useful line

Just used for first time today on my German Wirehaired Pointer, lots of game about so reassurance for me to slow her down a bit...worked well. Good bright colour , got the collar too, going forward is going to be very helpful. Note to self though it still burns if it catches round your ankles🙄😁

Love this lead!

Love this long line. Makes such a difference to not have a muddy and soggy line in the winter. I recommend this to everyone.

Great Product

I have a Border Terrier who has a strong chase instinct. For this reason I walk him out in the fields on a long lead. This one is great. It's light and doesn't tangle or get caught on things as my previous cord one did. And the colour means that it is easy to see and avoid.

Brilliant, and high vis which helps to not trip humans over!

Great quality. It doesn't absorb water so it doesn't get heavier like other long lines, meaning the dog doesn't feel more weight whilst using for training. The biothane doesn't get caught in stuff as much as other materials, and when it gets mucky, just wash it under the tap and all the muck just slips off. And, when we're using in the park whilst working on training and recal, or having running loose behind my dog as a backup, the high vis colour prevents tripping up humans!

The LEAD!!

Ordering it for the second time because I left it abroad.... Super efficient, my dog even learned to behave just by watching me hold it!!!

Great long lead

I already have a long lead but it burns through my hand on occasion, not a good idea. This biothane lead feels strong and can be gripped easily without friction also great luminous colour, bonus of a handle on the end.

Perfection

This is the best long line for dogs ever. It's yellow so they can see it clearly. It's waterproof, light and easy to clean. There is a clever way to tie it up to make it shorter and easier to hang. If you know a professional canine trainer or horse trainer they might show you. I only learned it a few days ago. It's worth asking.

Brilliant product

I've had my biothane long line for four years now, using it first with a dog-reactive lurcher and now with a friendly but selectively deaf Bichon. It's brilliant, doesn't get heavier when it's wet, easy to see in the grass, the clip is secure and it's easy just to rinse off when you get home. I have the 10m one and it's great for giving the dog some freedom to trot, run, sniff etc but still feeling you have them safe.

H
Henry
excellent

Have used this for over a year now and very pleased with this lead. Lightweight but strong. Very easy to clean. Doesn't easily get tangled. \nMy dog's recall isn't very good( if she sees a deer) so I use this line attached to a harness. It gives her some freedom but I am still in control. The only modification I made was to cut the loop open. Just in case she did get loose,I didn't want the loop to get caught on a branch.

Decent lead let down by weak clasp

In some ways this lead is good. The 10m length is useful- we occasionally used it in fields or ponds but also used it as a long tether when on holiday and didn't have a secure garden. It doesn't tend to tangle and I like the bright yellow colour which makes it clear he is on a lead. I don't much like the texture because I find it hard to hold but it does clean up easily. However, I can only give it two stars because the clasp broke after just a few months of very occasional use.

Brilliant long line

I love this long line, I use it every day to walk my dog-reactive lurcher and it allows him to have an 'offlead' walk in safety. It's lightweight, visible, doesn't bother him and if it gets wet or muddy it doesn't get heavier and just needs a wash under the tap or a wipe with a sponge.

Fantastic!

Definitely worth every penny. Bought in September last year & used every day on a bouncy & powerful 4 year old Labrador - we tried numerous leads but this has changed our lives. Easily visible, strong with good hand hold - never gets soggy/heavy from wet, quick hose cleans it & rarely tangles. Only concern the smallish clasp but has been fine. Used with a harnsess it has been absolutely perfect for us.

the best I've ever used

I have used many long lines as I foster dogs for the rescue kennels I work for, and I am a dog trainer too. Some were better than others but this one is definitely the best. What I love about it is that it does not absorb water, something that used to drive me crazy with other lines. It is quite stiff so it doesn't tangle easily and is visible so when the dog drags it behind I always know where it is. It feels a bit plasticky, not at all like leather, but that does not matter much to me. I've been using it for a few weeks with my young GSD who pulls quite a bit and it's strong and easy to hold on to. Will see how long it lasts, hopefully long, so far there is no sign of wear on it. I would, and will, strongly recommend this product.

More comfortable and less problems than a flexi lead

I bought the 5 metre lead for my 6 month old puppy so I could safely walk him in the park and on the moors without him running up to people and stock. I have a flexi lead but don't like it - it gets tangled up in undergrowth very easily. This lead is ideal. I can let him drag it through muddy puddles knowing that I can rinse it off in a stream. It doesn't get tangled and is very soft on the hands. The puppy doesn't mind the weight of it at all and the colour means the people, especially farmers, can see that he's under control and poses no danger to them.

Biothane lead

I love this lightweight, easy to use lead. I bought the 10m version. I would prefer the lead to be wider, 25mm though. It is extremely tough when you have a big dog pulling on the other end. I use this in preference to a flexi lead but would not use it on the streets.
