Description

Cycling with a dog on a hand-held lead is genuinely risky — one sharp pull and you're off balance. The DogRunner mounts to the frame, keeps your dog clear of the wheels, and lets you ride with both hands on the bars.

How it works

  • Movable suspension absorbs sudden pulls rather than transmitting them to the bike
  • Keeps your dog at a distance — prevents them running in front of or between the wheels
  • Both hands stay on the handlebars
  • Quick to mount and detach

Features & specification

  • TÜV tested for safety and durability
  • Solid steel with chrome finish
  • Includes lead, approximately 60cm
  • Fits bike frames up to 36mm thick
  • Frame clamp: 11.3 x 9.2cm · Protective sleeve: 9cm
  • Mounts on either side of the bike

Safety — please read before your first ride

  • Use a harness, not a collar. A collar concentrates force on the neck if your dog stumbles or pulls.
  • Avoid busy roads, and be mindful of pedestrians and other path users.
  • Build up gradually if your dog isn't used to running. Let them set the pace and the distance.
  • Asphalt can badly damage paws at speed or over distance. Check pads regularly, and avoid hot surfaces in summer.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take a dog to get used to it?
Most adapt within the first few minutes — the fixed distance and steady pace are easier for a dog to read than a hand-held lead. Start with a short, quiet route.

What height should I mount it at?
Around 40cm is the recommended starting point. Adjust from there based on your dog's size and how the lead sits when they're running comfortably.

Is my dog fit enough for this?
Running alongside a bike is sustained exercise, quite different from a walk. If your dog isn't conditioned for it, build up slowly — and check with your vet first for puppies, older dogs, or brachycephalic breeds.

Care

General Care & Storage
To get the most out of your Petszo delivery, please keep the following in mind:

  • Edibles: Keep food and treats tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry environment.
  • Fabrics & Beds: Gently wipe clean or wash at 30ºC (always check the individual label first). Do not bleach.
  • Safety First: Regularly check toys and accessories for damage and remove them if broken.
  • Note: Always refer to the specific packaging for exact instructions.

Getting the most out of your Petszo order comes down to storing things properly and checking them regularly. Here's what matters.

Food and treats

Keep dry food tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Resealing the bag or transferring it to an airtight container helps stop the fats going stale, which is the usual reason a dog or cat suddenly goes off a food they previously liked.

Opened wet food should be covered and refrigerated, and used within about 24 hours. Serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the fridge — cold food is noticeably less appealing to most pets and can be harder on sensitive stomachs.

Many treat pouches contain a small oxygen absorber sachet to keep the contents fresh. This isn't edible — remove and discard it before giving your pet the treat.

Beds, blankets and fabric items

Most fabric items can be gently wiped clean or machine washed at 30°C, but always check the individual care label first — padding and covers vary between products. Don't use bleach, as residue can irritate skin and paws.

Removable covers are worth washing more often than you'd think, particularly for pets with skin sensitivities.

Toys and chews

Check toys and accessories regularly for damage, and remove anything that's cracked, split or losing pieces. Small fragments are a genuine choking and blockage risk.

Always supervise your pet with chews and rawhide products, and take away any piece small enough to be swallowed whole. Match the chew size to your pet — a chew intended for a small dog won't last long with a large one, and creates more risk.

Harnesses, collars and leads

Check the fit periodically, especially on growing puppies and kittens. As a rule you should be able to slide two fingers comfortably under any strap — tighter risks rubbing, looser risks your pet backing out of it.

Inspect stitching, buckles and clips for wear, and replace anything showing damage before it fails on a walk.

Litter trays and small pet enclosures

Scoop clumping litter daily and top up as needed; a full change every 1–2 weeks is typical, more often with several cats sharing a tray. Clean the tray itself with hot water and mild detergent rather than strong disinfectants, some of which are toxic to cats.

For small pet enclosures, spot-clean soiled bedding daily and do a full change weekly.

Switching foods

Introduce any new food gradually over roughly 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts into the current food. Sudden changes are one of the most common causes of digestive upset, and it's easily avoided.

Always check the product packaging. The guidance here is general — individual products carry their own storage, washing and feeding instructions, and those take precedence. If you're unsure about something, or your pet has a specific health condition, speak to your vet.

Delivery

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of you placing them. Delivery time after dispatch depends on the shipping method chosen at checkout. You'll receive tracking details by email once your order is on its way, so you can follow its progress with the carrier.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes — delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. Orders below that threshold are charged at the rate shown at checkout before you pay.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We don't ship internationally at present. Please note that a small number of items are shipped from outside the UK and may take a little longer to arrive — this is noted on the individual product page where it applies.

What if my order is late?

Carrier delays occasionally happen, particularly around public holidays or in bad weather. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, get in touch with your order number and we'll chase it. If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we'll send a replacement or issue a refund.

How do I track my order?

Once your order ships, we email you tracking details. Use these to check live delivery status directly with the carrier.

Returns & refunds

Can I return something if I change my mind?

Yes. Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us you'd like to cancel, and a further 14 days to send the items back. Items need to be unused, in their original packaging and in the condition you received them. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. Full details are in our Refund & Return Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

We'll put it right. Under UK law you have up to 30 days to reject a faulty item for a full refund. For transit damage, contact us ideally within 48 hours of delivery with photos of both the item and the packaging. We cover return postage on faulty or incorrect items and will offer a full refund or a replacement.

Are there items I can't return?

For hygiene and safety reasons, opened or unsealed pet food and treats, used grooming products, personalised items and gift cards can't be returned unless they're faulty.

How long do refunds take?

Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether it's approved. Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving the goods, back to your original payment method.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes — email support@petszo.co.uk with your order number any time before dispatch. If it's already gone out, you can return it under the 14-day change-of-mind period once it arrives.

Products

Do I need a prescription for veterinary diets?

No prescription is legally required in the UK to buy veterinary diet foods. However, these products are formulated for diagnosed conditions, so we strongly recommend speaking to your vet before starting one — and having your pet checked at least every six months while feeding it. If your pet's health worsens, seek veterinary advice straight away.

How should I switch my pet to a new food?

Gradually, over roughly 7–10 days. Mix a small amount of the new food into the current one and increase the proportion each day. Switching abruptly is a common cause of digestive upset.

How do I store pet food once it's open?

Keep dry food in a cool, dry place, ideally resealed or in an airtight container to stop the fats going stale. Opened wet food should go in the fridge and be used within about 24 hours. Always check the individual packaging, as some products have specific requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This policy explains how we process, dispatch and deliver orders, and what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Delivery charges

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. For orders below that value, the delivery charge is calculated and shown at checkout before you complete your purchase — you'll never be charged an amount you haven't seen first.

2. Order processing and dispatch

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of the order being placed. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

Once your order has been processed you'll receive a confirmation email, followed by tracking details where available.

3. Delivery times

Time in transit after dispatch depends on the delivery method selected at checkout and your location. Total time to receive your order is therefore the dispatch window above plus the carrier's transit time.

A small number of products are shipped from outside the UK and take longer to arrive. Where this applies, it is stated clearly on the individual product page.

4. Delivery area

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We do not offer international shipping at present.

Please note that a small number of bulky items cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Where this restriction applies, it is noted on the product page.

5. Tracking your order

Once your order ships, we'll email you tracking information where available. You can use this to check the live delivery status directly with the carrier.

6. Delays

Some delays are outside our control — carrier backlogs, severe weather, and public holidays being the most common. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us with your order number and we'll investigate.

If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we will send a replacement or issue a refund.

7. Incorrect delivery addresses

Please check your delivery address carefully at checkout. If you spot a mistake, contact us immediately — we can usually correct it before dispatch. Once an order has shipped to an address you provided, we may not be able to recover it.

8. Contact us

For any questions about shipping or the status of an order:

Phone: +44 7782 276061
Email: support@petszo.co.uk

No more wobbling around

It is brilliant. I'm the owner of an agressive GSD (rescued, I didn't screw him up) and it is difficult to wear him out by foot. Taking the bike and a lead is very wobbly and I've come off the bike more than once. Here is the answer, he has no chance to mess about and if he tries, it doesn't cause a problem. I can only recommend it, however, the bike gets quite wide with the Springer and the dog, so one needs wide-ish tracks to cycle on.

Great fun.

I used one of these for years on bridleways and forest tracks with my Springer Spaniel. It is brilliant but I would say it should always be used with a harness, not a collar; you should be aware of setting a sensible speed for your dog (i.e. his normal "loping" stride) and make sure you stop for water and toileting; it is not safe to use where there is traffic.

Best Accessory Ever

I have a small patterdale terrier whom no matter how much you walk her is never satisfied! This bike attachment is fantastic, it allows us to run her without the worry of her going under the wheels. We did have to change the lead attachment as the one supplied did not reach far enough. If you're looking for a way to have fun with your dog whilst exercising them fully then this is the product for you.

This is a great idea and to a degree it works. I have a new hybrid cycle and attached the unit as directed and in the instructions it warns it may be in the way of your feet. Well it does get in the way so you have to cycle using your arch and not the ball of your foot. This is a very poor design and could so easily be sorted by the manufacturer. I only have size 9 shoes so not really large. The lead is adequate but could do with being slightly longer.

best thing ever!!!!!

We have 2 dogs, a German Shorthaired pointer and a Beagle. I took the dogs out 1 at a time initially and they learnt what to do extremely quickly so I ventured out with both of them. I was trundling along happily but became worried when I saw a pigeon asleep in the middle of the road, my GSP likes to point and stalk birds, I thought this was going to end in an ugly mess. Otto, true to form, leapt up after the bird and the spring just pulled him back in with barely a wobble! I can cycle at a steady pace on the road and they run on the pavement, it works a treat and am more than pleased with the purchase.

Cycling with Beardies

We knew the bracket on this was too long to fit my mountain bike before we ordered, but husband cut bracket down to fit and it does the job perfectly. I bought this for my 4 y.o. very obedient Beardie and he loves it. I then decided to try it with our nutty 18month old Beardie and have no problems with him either. Definitely recommend this Cycle Mount - Beardies are so mad always seemed to cut feet/ pull muscles chasing ball, now dogs get their need to run satisfied safely.

What a great product. I was very sceptical at first that I would be pulled off by my 1 year old energetic dalmatian, but not a chance. This absorbs almost all of the pulling no matter how hard he tugs. We use it for taking him on the road or by livestock when we are out off road cycling. Fab product, but always take an adjustable spanner out with you as the dog can work it loose and get it caught near your feet; if they pull hard enough.

springer

I have also owned 2 of these for about 10 years they are not suitable for all dogs as some of them just find the idea of getting that close to the bike wheels to much. But if they like them they are great as you can let them run. Keep them on a very short lead or they will go under the frount wheel it does NOT stop them pulling but it does give you a secound to respond when they do so you do not end up on the floor. A WORD OF WARNING if your dog is not used to lots of exersize dont sudenly start taking them for great long runs. My springers used to find a mile or two running at there own pace plenty but they loved going out on it.(my present dogs are to old or think it is the most scarey thing ever and dispite seeing there parents use it and being walked with me pushing the bike will not have any of it.)

Dog springer cycle mount

This is a short addition to my earlier coment. People have mentioned that the dog cycle springer can catch their ankles and legs. Solution - simply turn the bar upside down so that the U shape bar becomes an n shape bar. Problem solved no more leg and ankle beating! The switch in possition does not affect its use in any other way. I have been using the springer upside down since 2001.

Dog cycle mount

I have had one of these cycle mounts for many years. I purchased mine in Germany in 2001. The flimsy string and plastic loop can be easily replaced with a short sturdy lead attached using a climbing/ mountaineering type clasp for strong dogs. I run my male labrador beside my bike for hours using this mount. He can hop on and off pavements beside me while I ride the road. The fixings can be used in any country for left or right and hand drive while the cycle uses the main highway. The spring comes in handy if the dog sees a cat and wants to run after it, but you will need to train your dog a little to go around obstacles such as lamp posts otherwise it hurts! You can even mount two dogs, with one dog either side! Finally we have them available in the UK. 5 stars excellent.

Great, but be aware of these things.. . . . . . . . .

we bought this for our weimeraner as she needs lots of exercise and it has been a great success. Only a couple of points, she is still able to pull with it - especially if she sees another dog/animal so you need to be aware of that. Also even though we tied the lead cord in a knot she was supposed to be unable to pull open, it did so very quickly. We remedied this by attaching a short lead and this works well. Also worth pointing out is to check your bike before purchasing, as this doesn't fit all modern bikes- you need a good length of upright bar under the saddle to fix it to.

Doberman Tested

We have a very energetic young doberman who needs more than 3 half hour walks a day. This allows us to enjoy our sport of choice, mountain biking and taking our beloved pet for a walk at the same time. He loves it! It tires him out like a walk never does. It is really easy to use and we have had no negative experiences with it.
