Care

General Care & Storage
To get the most out of your Petszo delivery, please keep the following in mind:

  • Edibles: Keep food and treats tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry environment.
  • Fabrics & Beds: Gently wipe clean or wash at 30ºC (always check the individual label first). Do not bleach.
  • Safety First: Regularly check toys and accessories for damage and remove them if broken.
  • Note: Always refer to the specific packaging for exact instructions.

Getting the most out of your Petszo order comes down to storing things properly and checking them regularly. Here's what matters.

Food and treats

Keep dry food tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Resealing the bag or transferring it to an airtight container helps stop the fats going stale, which is the usual reason a dog or cat suddenly goes off a food they previously liked.

Opened wet food should be covered and refrigerated, and used within about 24 hours. Serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the fridge — cold food is noticeably less appealing to most pets and can be harder on sensitive stomachs.

Many treat pouches contain a small oxygen absorber sachet to keep the contents fresh. This isn't edible — remove and discard it before giving your pet the treat.

Beds, blankets and fabric items

Most fabric items can be gently wiped clean or machine washed at 30°C, but always check the individual care label first — padding and covers vary between products. Don't use bleach, as residue can irritate skin and paws.

Removable covers are worth washing more often than you'd think, particularly for pets with skin sensitivities.

Toys and chews

Check toys and accessories regularly for damage, and remove anything that's cracked, split or losing pieces. Small fragments are a genuine choking and blockage risk.

Always supervise your pet with chews and rawhide products, and take away any piece small enough to be swallowed whole. Match the chew size to your pet — a chew intended for a small dog won't last long with a large one, and creates more risk.

Harnesses, collars and leads

Check the fit periodically, especially on growing puppies and kittens. As a rule you should be able to slide two fingers comfortably under any strap — tighter risks rubbing, looser risks your pet backing out of it.

Inspect stitching, buckles and clips for wear, and replace anything showing damage before it fails on a walk.

Litter trays and small pet enclosures

Scoop clumping litter daily and top up as needed; a full change every 1–2 weeks is typical, more often with several cats sharing a tray. Clean the tray itself with hot water and mild detergent rather than strong disinfectants, some of which are toxic to cats.

For small pet enclosures, spot-clean soiled bedding daily and do a full change weekly.

Switching foods

Introduce any new food gradually over roughly 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts into the current food. Sudden changes are one of the most common causes of digestive upset, and it's easily avoided.

Always check the product packaging. The guidance here is general — individual products carry their own storage, washing and feeding instructions, and those take precedence. If you're unsure about something, or your pet has a specific health condition, speak to your vet.

Delivery

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of you placing them. Delivery time after dispatch depends on the shipping method chosen at checkout. You'll receive tracking details by email once your order is on its way, so you can follow its progress with the carrier.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes — delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. Orders below that threshold are charged at the rate shown at checkout before you pay.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We don't ship internationally at present. Please note that a small number of items are shipped from outside the UK and may take a little longer to arrive — this is noted on the individual product page where it applies.

What if my order is late?

Carrier delays occasionally happen, particularly around public holidays or in bad weather. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, get in touch with your order number and we'll chase it. If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we'll send a replacement or issue a refund.

How do I track my order?

Once your order ships, we email you tracking details. Use these to check live delivery status directly with the carrier.

Returns & refunds

Can I return something if I change my mind?

Yes. Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us you'd like to cancel, and a further 14 days to send the items back. Items need to be unused, in their original packaging and in the condition you received them. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. Full details are in our Refund & Return Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

We'll put it right. Under UK law you have up to 30 days to reject a faulty item for a full refund. For transit damage, contact us ideally within 48 hours of delivery with photos of both the item and the packaging. We cover return postage on faulty or incorrect items and will offer a full refund or a replacement.

Are there items I can't return?

For hygiene and safety reasons, opened or unsealed pet food and treats, used grooming products, personalised items and gift cards can't be returned unless they're faulty.

How long do refunds take?

Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether it's approved. Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving the goods, back to your original payment method.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes — email support@petszo.co.uk with your order number any time before dispatch. If it's already gone out, you can return it under the 14-day change-of-mind period once it arrives.

Products

Do I need a prescription for veterinary diets?

No prescription is legally required in the UK to buy veterinary diet foods. However, these products are formulated for diagnosed conditions, so we strongly recommend speaking to your vet before starting one — and having your pet checked at least every six months while feeding it. If your pet's health worsens, seek veterinary advice straight away.

How should I switch my pet to a new food?

Gradually, over roughly 7–10 days. Mix a small amount of the new food into the current one and increase the proportion each day. Switching abruptly is a common cause of digestive upset.

How do I store pet food once it's open?

Keep dry food in a cool, dry place, ideally resealed or in an airtight container to stop the fats going stale. Opened wet food should go in the fridge and be used within about 24 hours. Always check the individual packaging, as some products have specific requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This policy explains how we process, dispatch and deliver orders, and what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Delivery charges

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. For orders below that value, the delivery charge is calculated and shown at checkout before you complete your purchase — you'll never be charged an amount you haven't seen first.

2. Order processing and dispatch

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of the order being placed. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

Once your order has been processed you'll receive a confirmation email, followed by tracking details where available.

3. Delivery times

Time in transit after dispatch depends on the delivery method selected at checkout and your location. Total time to receive your order is therefore the dispatch window above plus the carrier's transit time.

A small number of products are shipped from outside the UK and take longer to arrive. Where this applies, it is stated clearly on the individual product page.

4. Delivery area

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We do not offer international shipping at present.

Please note that a small number of bulky items cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Where this restriction applies, it is noted on the product page.

5. Tracking your order

Once your order ships, we'll email you tracking information where available. You can use this to check the live delivery status directly with the carrier.

6. Delays

Some delays are outside our control — carrier backlogs, severe weather, and public holidays being the most common. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us with your order number and we'll investigate.

If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we will send a replacement or issue a refund.

7. Incorrect delivery addresses

Please check your delivery address carefully at checkout. If you spot a mistake, contact us immediately — we can usually correct it before dispatch. Once an order has shipped to an address you provided, we may not be able to recover it.

8. Contact us

Fab 4 dogs needing a low protein diet or with loose stools

As many others on here have mentioned I have a rescue dog that had nothing but stomach issues and loose stools. My fat recommended chappy and that’s what I did and lovely firm stools.\n\nI was worried because I thought the condition of his coat and everything would be awful on such a mediocre food but actually it’s the exact opposite, he has a lovely shiny coat and so much better on this food

Two happy dogs

Our dogs came as rescues during the pandemic. Also came with lots of niggly health problems, which we have never come across in our previous dogs. Every month going to the vets with constant gland problems in both and ear infections, smelly breath. we eventually asked the vet why this was happening he advised to change their diet so we did. We now have them on Chappie dried food plus wet food and everything has been good for a year, no more trips to the vet every month.

Fantastic dog food

When I took my 12 week old Labrador puppy to the vet for her vaccine my vet couldn't recommend chappie enough. I have fed her everyday for the past 11 years and she loves it. Her skin is perfect, her coat has such a glossy shine and she is as fit as a puppy. It is so good that when I got two more puppy labs 6 years later I didn't hesitate to put them on it. My 3 Lab girls are a picture of health. The best original dog food 5*

Excellent food

It’s the best out of all the dog food on the market, my pooch really struggled with loose poops as I tried to find food to suit! Since using Chappie no issues, firm poops and a happier dog Chappie always.

Chappie amazing for my dogs

I have been buying Chappie for 10 years now. Good value for money, the mutts really enjoy it especially when Dodds feeds them. I’ve not got much cash but this certainly satisfies in the bedroom with the mutts. j Sparry

Revelation

My German Shepard Dog I rescued from the Edinburgh Car and Dog home, at a year old, had serious stomachs issues and took us months trialling different types of dog food. Eventuay, having talked our vet, they suggested Chappie wet food combined with dry. What a difference. Solid number twos for years now. Totally recommend this brand.

no shame using this dog food.

both dogs glands sorted with this dried dog food. no more acid reflux either for the white standard poodle. poo's are firm too. All sorted , no regurgitating food, no blocked anal glands and no reflux. I would recommend as both poodles love it, although prefer it dry and not wet. not a bit left.Though they do drink more water as expected. i won't be a dog food snob again, the white dog is shiney as well as the grey one. they do get fish skins as their chews so they may help too. low fat too.

Excellent

We had a Westoe with a skin problem tried many things from the vet, then the vet told us to try chappie as it's made by vets, after a few weeks the skin issue had cleared up and our Westoe was perfect on chappie, would highly reccomend

My 12 year old west highland white became very ill with pancreatitis, nearly lost him. had many years before this with stomach problems no prescription foods worked. size of food is too big

good food but biscuits are far too big, if they were smaller would be lot better

Sorted my girlie's hair loss issue

Right so we have 3 dogs two of them mastiffs and a staffy. My 5 year old dogue de bordeaux seems to be allergic to all the dog foods I have tried ie James wellbeloved, arden grange, wainwright's, concept for life, hi-life to name a few and she looses hair on both sides of ribs the only food that doesn't cause it is chappie. She does get dry skin though so got her on omega fish oils 3-6 capsules and so far is doing the trick. Thankfully other two dogs can eat anything so no issues there.

Great

I used this website for the 1st time and no problems next day delivery too.\nI always use this dog food as I have a boxer dog with a sensitive stomach and I have tried many different types of expensive dog foods and this doesn't upset his tummy and have no problems. And is recommended by vets

Absolutely brill

After feeding my 6yo GSD, Hills (on the vets recommendation) then switched to Lilys kitchen things were getting expensive. So off my own back I decided to try my girl on Chappie & she hasn't ever looked better & it's costing me app £35pm to feed her instead of £100. We're both happy with her on Chappie

At last........

I have a 10 month old Great Dane puppy who has had explosives Diarrhoea all her young life. I’ve consulted Vets and food companies, she’s been on medication- all of which didn’t help. Someone mentioned Chappie. Within 24 hours the diarrhoea stopped and has not returned. Our vet and the food company assure me that it will support a giant breed’s growth. Firm normal stools at a fraction of the cost of ‘posher’ dog foods .......changed our lives!!

Cheap and nasty, next to nothing nutritious in it compared to others.

I put my Labs on this at the advice of my vet as they were a bit overweight and needed a lower fat option. At the time they all had lovely shining coats, bright eyes and normal stools. After five days on it their coats were really dull/full of white flakes/eyes dull/crumbling stools/scratching lots/hungry AND smelly wind/gurgling tums. I took them off it and within 2 weeks their scaly flakes had gone/glossy coats/normal stools/tums not gurgling/no wind etc. Won't ever buy Crappie again!

Solved our GSDs bowel probs

Our 4 year old GSM has been plagued with diarrhoea one and off since birth. On our vets we tried chappie for its low fat content and he's been fine ever since. It may be cheap but it's effective

Sensitive stomachs

My 8 year old Cavalier was diagnosed with irritable bowel disease by the vet in January. My vet said he must go on a low fat diet and because my vet new i could not afford the top of the range sensitive stomach food for dogs my vet suggested i put him onto Chappie dry because of the low fat content. \nWith the medication and new diet of Chappie my dog is like a puppy again.

Good for sensitive tummy's

Eight months ago my 9 yr old rescue Cavalier KCS had a very bad stomach problem, he was very poorly and I almost lost him, he was put on a drip for a few days and six weeks of medication. My vet recommended Chappie dry and wet as it is a good basic food and is good for dogs with sensitive stomachs (he was on more expensive brands before) which may have been too rich for him, since being on Chappie he has come on in leaps and bounds. I highly recommend it and is so cheap by comparison.

It's so cheap, cheap, cheap it should be bird food

If your JR loves it and doesn't have any reaction then love it to bits. It is a heck of a lot cheaper than loads of others.
