Care

General Care & Storage
To get the most out of your Petszo delivery, please keep the following in mind:

  • Edibles: Keep food and treats tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry environment.
  • Fabrics & Beds: Gently wipe clean or wash at 30ºC (always check the individual label first). Do not bleach.
  • Safety First: Regularly check toys and accessories for damage and remove them if broken.
  • Note: Always refer to the specific packaging for exact instructions.

Getting the most out of your Petszo order comes down to storing things properly and checking them regularly. Here's what matters.

Food and treats

Keep dry food tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Resealing the bag or transferring it to an airtight container helps stop the fats going stale, which is the usual reason a dog or cat suddenly goes off a food they previously liked.

Opened wet food should be covered and refrigerated, and used within about 24 hours. Serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the fridge — cold food is noticeably less appealing to most pets and can be harder on sensitive stomachs.

Many treat pouches contain a small oxygen absorber sachet to keep the contents fresh. This isn't edible — remove and discard it before giving your pet the treat.

Beds, blankets and fabric items

Most fabric items can be gently wiped clean or machine washed at 30°C, but always check the individual care label first — padding and covers vary between products. Don't use bleach, as residue can irritate skin and paws.

Removable covers are worth washing more often than you'd think, particularly for pets with skin sensitivities.

Toys and chews

Check toys and accessories regularly for damage, and remove anything that's cracked, split or losing pieces. Small fragments are a genuine choking and blockage risk.

Always supervise your pet with chews and rawhide products, and take away any piece small enough to be swallowed whole. Match the chew size to your pet — a chew intended for a small dog won't last long with a large one, and creates more risk.

Harnesses, collars and leads

Check the fit periodically, especially on growing puppies and kittens. As a rule you should be able to slide two fingers comfortably under any strap — tighter risks rubbing, looser risks your pet backing out of it.

Inspect stitching, buckles and clips for wear, and replace anything showing damage before it fails on a walk.

Litter trays and small pet enclosures

Scoop clumping litter daily and top up as needed; a full change every 1–2 weeks is typical, more often with several cats sharing a tray. Clean the tray itself with hot water and mild detergent rather than strong disinfectants, some of which are toxic to cats.

For small pet enclosures, spot-clean soiled bedding daily and do a full change weekly.

Switching foods

Introduce any new food gradually over roughly 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts into the current food. Sudden changes are one of the most common causes of digestive upset, and it's easily avoided.

Always check the product packaging. The guidance here is general — individual products carry their own storage, washing and feeding instructions, and those take precedence. If you're unsure about something, or your pet has a specific health condition, speak to your vet.

Delivery

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of you placing them. Delivery time after dispatch depends on the shipping method chosen at checkout. You'll receive tracking details by email once your order is on its way, so you can follow its progress with the carrier.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes — delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. Orders below that threshold are charged at the rate shown at checkout before you pay.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We don't ship internationally at present. Please note that a small number of items are shipped from outside the UK and may take a little longer to arrive — this is noted on the individual product page where it applies.

What if my order is late?

Carrier delays occasionally happen, particularly around public holidays or in bad weather. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, get in touch with your order number and we'll chase it. If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we'll send a replacement or issue a refund.

How do I track my order?

Once your order ships, we email you tracking details. Use these to check live delivery status directly with the carrier.

Returns & refunds

Can I return something if I change my mind?

Yes. Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us you'd like to cancel, and a further 14 days to send the items back. Items need to be unused, in their original packaging and in the condition you received them. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. Full details are in our Refund & Return Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

We'll put it right. Under UK law you have up to 30 days to reject a faulty item for a full refund. For transit damage, contact us ideally within 48 hours of delivery with photos of both the item and the packaging. We cover return postage on faulty or incorrect items and will offer a full refund or a replacement.

Are there items I can't return?

For hygiene and safety reasons, opened or unsealed pet food and treats, used grooming products, personalised items and gift cards can't be returned unless they're faulty.

How long do refunds take?

Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether it's approved. Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving the goods, back to your original payment method.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes — email support@petszo.co.uk with your order number any time before dispatch. If it's already gone out, you can return it under the 14-day change-of-mind period once it arrives.

Products

Do I need a prescription for veterinary diets?

No prescription is legally required in the UK to buy veterinary diet foods. However, these products are formulated for diagnosed conditions, so we strongly recommend speaking to your vet before starting one — and having your pet checked at least every six months while feeding it. If your pet's health worsens, seek veterinary advice straight away.

How should I switch my pet to a new food?

Gradually, over roughly 7–10 days. Mix a small amount of the new food into the current one and increase the proportion each day. Switching abruptly is a common cause of digestive upset.

How do I store pet food once it's open?

Keep dry food in a cool, dry place, ideally resealed or in an airtight container to stop the fats going stale. Opened wet food should go in the fridge and be used within about 24 hours. Always check the individual packaging, as some products have specific requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This policy explains how we process, dispatch and deliver orders, and what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Delivery charges

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. For orders below that value, the delivery charge is calculated and shown at checkout before you complete your purchase — you'll never be charged an amount you haven't seen first.

2. Order processing and dispatch

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of the order being placed. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

Once your order has been processed you'll receive a confirmation email, followed by tracking details where available.

3. Delivery times

Time in transit after dispatch depends on the delivery method selected at checkout and your location. Total time to receive your order is therefore the dispatch window above plus the carrier's transit time.

A small number of products are shipped from outside the UK and take longer to arrive. Where this applies, it is stated clearly on the individual product page.

4. Delivery area

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We do not offer international shipping at present.

Please note that a small number of bulky items cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Where this restriction applies, it is noted on the product page.

5. Tracking your order

Once your order ships, we'll email you tracking information where available. You can use this to check the live delivery status directly with the carrier.

6. Delays

Some delays are outside our control — carrier backlogs, severe weather, and public holidays being the most common. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us with your order number and we'll investigate.

If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we will send a replacement or issue a refund.

7. Incorrect delivery addresses

Please check your delivery address carefully at checkout. If you spot a mistake, contact us immediately — we can usually correct it before dispatch. Once an order has shipped to an address you provided, we may not be able to recover it.

8. Contact us

For any questions about shipping or the status of an order:

EXCELLENT

We've moved two of our cats on the this, one suffers from separation anxiety and gets cystitis, the other will wee on things when we go away. Both are now so happy and content ☺ worked sooooo quickly too, and we only give them 10grams each a day added to their other food, two happy kitties 😸

Effective solution for a stress prone cat

We've been using this food for almost 3 years or so. Its been a very effective solution for our senior rescue cat, who we've had for 3.5 years. When we first adopted her, we tried multiple strategies, including plug-in de-stress scents. This food seemed to make the difference. Now, after several changes in where we live, and the recent introduction of a puppy, she's doing very well, with only minor relapses in her over-grooming. We've always mixed the food 50-50 with a "standard" dry .

Incredible stuff

We have been fostering a traumatised adult cat for over 6 months now. She'd made progress but was still attacking strangers that came in the house due to her past experiences. Speaking to our behaviourist we understood this response was fear based, not pure aggression. We tried so many things but as a last resort I found out about this food. 3 weeks later and this cat is completely changed. We've even introduced her to a new person and she was confident and happy to meet them. Amazing

Good

It didn’t help with calming my cat and stopping her having accidents in the kitchen, but she stopped pulling her fur from the tummy, which is also stress related.

Didn't make cats calm

No difference in temperament from food. Better off buying more nutritious food and adding a calming supplement! Waste of money!

Amazing !

This product has completely changed my cat's behaviour. Over the years I have spent thousands on on trying to sort out his nervous behaviour . He was terrified of anyone new in the household, noise, other cats . He has suffered from very upset stomachs . Nothing could be identified as the cause. After just a couple of weeks of using this food he now takes treats from visitors , is undisturbed by loud noises & has no more upset stomachs. Unbelievable - wish I had found it years ago.

It’s Helped!

My very mardy jumpy cat has been on this for a year now recommended to my by my cattery. So far so good she’s a lot calmer now so will carry on feeding her it.

Excellent

Had problems with my cat since a kitten due to stress, she comes from a multi-cat household and began urinating on the carpets or rugs and nothing worked till I started feeding her the calming food! She was so unsocialable before as well and now she comes to us for strokes and cuddles all the time. A few month in another cat I have started showing signs of stress and anger towards the others and I’ve put her on the food too and no problems anymore :)

Honestly changed my cats life and health!

My cat has had heart disease since he was born but wasn't discovered until he was 18 months old. He has been on medication since then and has 6 month check ups. Along with the normal heart disease symptoms he gets very anxious and stressed. This can be the slightest thing, recently pollen allergies causing him to pull fur out he's so itchy have made him anxious and my little sister has been in and out of hospital. He isn't close with her but just the absence sent him into a spiral of not eating, weight loss and mood issues. I came across this in a discount bin because there was a tiny rip in a bag. I thought why not! Cannot hurt to try when the vets can't do too much. I brought it home and when he next decided to come home he made a beeline for the bag and literally started to rip the bag open himself. He's started to eat again, I mix into wet food and he will eat it. He's staying inside a lot more and his mood with me and his siblings has increased ten fold. This is going to be his staple from now on and I couldn't be more grateful!

Life changing

Molly was a happy cat.. She lived with her 2 sisters and 3 dogs and never had a problem. We moved and she loves the new house but after 6 months she started to pee on the rug by the Rayburn. Or even in a pan. We couldn't understand why. We changed the cat Litter and hey presto we thought it was sorted so bought a new rug. Well few weeks into it and that rug was getting soiled. She is 8 years old... It was behaviour not medical.. Since having this food it's changed everyone's life! NO PEE ON A RUG!! In fact she is now usIng other cat trays even if we are in the room!!\n\nI can't tell you how amazing this is... I don't know how long it will last but It really has helped... Worth a try!!

It Works!

I did not think it was making much difference but when I ran out of it, my cat seems much worse.... So it must work!

Some Improvement

Been giving my 13-year old skittish and scared cat this food ONLY for 4 weeks now, along with 2x Pet Remedy plugs in the flat. She has shown a slight improvement -- she now sometimes plays with one of the other cats, which was unthinkable before. But still lots of hissing and growling during the day.

Stress for cat

Since we found our cat was stressed, a behaviourist recommended this food in combination with Bach flower drops. We know our cat was having a really difficult time because she had scratched her neck awfully, and was forced to wear a plastic cone collar. After a week of this food the cone was off and so far she hasn't scratched her neck again. She is part of family life again and is back on my lap for the first time in years. After five years, this was the solution. Awesome right? We only wish we had known about this food earlier, we could have saved a lot of money and stress!

Ella
excellent

This summer my cat Baraja suffered a crisis of stress, because in summer we went on a lot of trips and a lot of changes were made in his environment. That made her more shy and she started going to the toilet in odd places around the house. Our veterinarian recommended me this diet and we also used Feliway for a month, and she's already seeming a lot better. Would recommend!

I have a whole different cat

We've had our Stimpy for 6 years now, and she has always been a very scared little girl. She already suffered from bladder stones, but we were also recommended the Royal Canin Calm, and as I said she has changed completely. A cat that you could never previously cuddle will now come and find you for a hug. No sitting on our lap yet but it is a start, and who knows what else this food will do in the future for our Stimpy.

Calmer cat

Our cat Beefy has a habit of hunting my lower legs, and she clearly has a lot of tension in her body at all times! She can be exceptionally grumpy when she's hungry and has had to wait for her meal. Since she's been eating this calm kibble, she's become much calmer and I can even stroke her belly without getting attacked.

Excellent

I gave this food to my cats when I moved as a precaution, and we didn't have any episodes of stress or anything weird in the new house. They adapted very well to everything (I also used Feliway), I recommend this food for abrupt changes to your cat's environment, because cats can be very sensitive to them.

Does what it claims

We were introduced to this food when the cats were urine spraying inside and getting into fights. At first we doubted that food could help, but now I'm convinced that the food does what it claims. We no longer see them attacking table legs, and there are barely any fights anymore. Sometimes a little scrap but no huge fights anymore. Apparently it is also delicious, as they gobble it up happily. We have also recently started feeding them half and half with this and the Royal Canin Sterilised food. Really good product!
