Care

General Care & Storage
To get the most out of your Petszo delivery, please keep the following in mind:

  • Edibles: Keep food and treats tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry environment.
  • Fabrics & Beds: Gently wipe clean or wash at 30ºC (always check the individual label first). Do not bleach.
  • Safety First: Regularly check toys and accessories for damage and remove them if broken.
  • Note: Always refer to the specific packaging for exact instructions.

Getting the most out of your Petszo order comes down to storing things properly and checking them regularly. Here's what matters.

Food and treats

Keep dry food tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Resealing the bag or transferring it to an airtight container helps stop the fats going stale, which is the usual reason a dog or cat suddenly goes off a food they previously liked.

Opened wet food should be covered and refrigerated, and used within about 24 hours. Serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the fridge — cold food is noticeably less appealing to most pets and can be harder on sensitive stomachs.

Many treat pouches contain a small oxygen absorber sachet to keep the contents fresh. This isn't edible — remove and discard it before giving your pet the treat.

Beds, blankets and fabric items

Most fabric items can be gently wiped clean or machine washed at 30°C, but always check the individual care label first — padding and covers vary between products. Don't use bleach, as residue can irritate skin and paws.

Removable covers are worth washing more often than you'd think, particularly for pets with skin sensitivities.

Toys and chews

Check toys and accessories regularly for damage, and remove anything that's cracked, split or losing pieces. Small fragments are a genuine choking and blockage risk.

Always supervise your pet with chews and rawhide products, and take away any piece small enough to be swallowed whole. Match the chew size to your pet — a chew intended for a small dog won't last long with a large one, and creates more risk.

Harnesses, collars and leads

Check the fit periodically, especially on growing puppies and kittens. As a rule you should be able to slide two fingers comfortably under any strap — tighter risks rubbing, looser risks your pet backing out of it.

Inspect stitching, buckles and clips for wear, and replace anything showing damage before it fails on a walk.

Litter trays and small pet enclosures

Scoop clumping litter daily and top up as needed; a full change every 1–2 weeks is typical, more often with several cats sharing a tray. Clean the tray itself with hot water and mild detergent rather than strong disinfectants, some of which are toxic to cats.

For small pet enclosures, spot-clean soiled bedding daily and do a full change weekly.

Switching foods

Introduce any new food gradually over roughly 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts into the current food. Sudden changes are one of the most common causes of digestive upset, and it's easily avoided.

Always check the product packaging. The guidance here is general — individual products carry their own storage, washing and feeding instructions, and those take precedence. If you're unsure about something, or your pet has a specific health condition, speak to your vet.

Delivery

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of you placing them. Delivery time after dispatch depends on the shipping method chosen at checkout. You'll receive tracking details by email once your order is on its way, so you can follow its progress with the carrier.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes — delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. Orders below that threshold are charged at the rate shown at checkout before you pay.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We don't ship internationally at present. Please note that a small number of items are shipped from outside the UK and may take a little longer to arrive — this is noted on the individual product page where it applies.

What if my order is late?

Carrier delays occasionally happen, particularly around public holidays or in bad weather. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, get in touch with your order number and we'll chase it. If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we'll send a replacement or issue a refund.

How do I track my order?

Once your order ships, we email you tracking details. Use these to check live delivery status directly with the carrier.

Returns & refunds

Can I return something if I change my mind?

Yes. Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us you'd like to cancel, and a further 14 days to send the items back. Items need to be unused, in their original packaging and in the condition you received them. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. Full details are in our Refund & Return Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

We'll put it right. Under UK law you have up to 30 days to reject a faulty item for a full refund. For transit damage, contact us ideally within 48 hours of delivery with photos of both the item and the packaging. We cover return postage on faulty or incorrect items and will offer a full refund or a replacement.

Are there items I can't return?

For hygiene and safety reasons, opened or unsealed pet food and treats, used grooming products, personalised items and gift cards can't be returned unless they're faulty.

How long do refunds take?

Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether it's approved. Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving the goods, back to your original payment method.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes — email support@petszo.co.uk with your order number any time before dispatch. If it's already gone out, you can return it under the 14-day change-of-mind period once it arrives.

Products

Do I need a prescription for veterinary diets?

No prescription is legally required in the UK to buy veterinary diet foods. However, these products are formulated for diagnosed conditions, so we strongly recommend speaking to your vet before starting one — and having your pet checked at least every six months while feeding it. If your pet's health worsens, seek veterinary advice straight away.

How should I switch my pet to a new food?

Gradually, over roughly 7–10 days. Mix a small amount of the new food into the current one and increase the proportion each day. Switching abruptly is a common cause of digestive upset.

How do I store pet food once it's open?

Keep dry food in a cool, dry place, ideally resealed or in an airtight container to stop the fats going stale. Opened wet food should go in the fridge and be used within about 24 hours. Always check the individual packaging, as some products have specific requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This policy explains how we process, dispatch and deliver orders, and what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Delivery charges

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. For orders below that value, the delivery charge is calculated and shown at checkout before you complete your purchase — you'll never be charged an amount you haven't seen first.

2. Order processing and dispatch

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of the order being placed. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

Once your order has been processed you'll receive a confirmation email, followed by tracking details where available.

3. Delivery times

Time in transit after dispatch depends on the delivery method selected at checkout and your location. Total time to receive your order is therefore the dispatch window above plus the carrier's transit time.

A small number of products are shipped from outside the UK and take longer to arrive. Where this applies, it is stated clearly on the individual product page.

4. Delivery area

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We do not offer international shipping at present.

Please note that a small number of bulky items cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Where this restriction applies, it is noted on the product page.

5. Tracking your order

Once your order ships, we'll email you tracking information where available. You can use this to check the live delivery status directly with the carrier.

6. Delays

Some delays are outside our control — carrier backlogs, severe weather, and public holidays being the most common. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us with your order number and we'll investigate.

If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we will send a replacement or issue a refund.

7. Incorrect delivery addresses

Please check your delivery address carefully at checkout. If you spot a mistake, contact us immediately — we can usually correct it before dispatch. Once an order has shipped to an address you provided, we may not be able to recover it.

8. Contact us

The best

My mini schnauzer is 11 years old and this has been the best food for her, for her hear and tummy.

Excellent

My chihuahua had very dry and itchy skin. He was a rescue and a very fussy eater. He was on Tails which he liked but his skin was getting worse and he smelt musty. He loves this food, I miss it with a little of the loaf. His skin is 100% better and its also a fraction of the price of Tails so I am very happy

Absolutely not recommended

The first food that gave my dog the worst diarrhoea – definitely not necessary.

Very good, well-balanced feed

Our little Fritz has a sensitive stomach, and his light-coloured fur and skin are also delicate. So I decided to try this food. He liked it, and I got the impression that his fur and skin became stronger. So everything I had hoped for came true. Unfortunately, it’s very expensive, but if similar issues arise again, I would buy it or recommend it without hesitation.

Excellent product

My JRT X SHIH TSU suffered from a patch of dry/flaky skin on her back. I tried various remedies and very expensive shampoos to try and cure the ailment. I changed her diet from normal Royal Canin to the dermacomfort variety and she's not been bothered with any dry skin patches since. I would highly recommend this for any dogs with skin problems.

No more itches. Very good

I have two Yorkshire Terriers. They were always scratching themselves but ever since they started eating this food they have been getting better and better. And, they love the taste.

EXCELLENT

MIMIE, OUR 7 YEAR OLD DOG, USED TO HAVE HORRIBLE SKIN PROBLEMS, SO BAD THAT SHE WAS BLEEDING AND LOSING ALL HER HAIR. THIS HAS HELPED HER IMMENSELY AND SHE LOVES THE FOOD.

Absolutely amazing!

Very happy with the product! Ruby had mild allergic reaction on some food products and was loosing a lot hair on her tummy, neck and legs (although it never bothered her and skin was not irritated at all), I bought bag of this dry food by accident because it was on offer. Ruby loves it and her hair grew back within 4 weeks. We tried 9 different brands before and always had problem with her not liking it, but this one is a win win for everybody. So, I just ordered a big bad))

Cereals Wheat & Rice are main ingredients

This is £4.50/kilo for Rice, Wheat and Sugar Beet Pulp all of which are very cheap ingredients. For a dog with itchy skin most experts and manufactuers would reccomend removing wheat and possibly all other grain from the diet. This food does the opposite. Good profit for Mars with superb packaging and marketing but not a good dog food.

Good for itchy skin

I have a mini Pincher who was always scratching himself and had inflamed skin, but thanks to this food his redness as well as the itching have gone down massively.

helps with the eczema!

tried this a few times now, stopped buying it at one time because of negative views of some people with royal canin, but realized that my dogs ENJOY this food, and they actually EAT it and they do well off it, especially helps with itchy skin,,,they dont seem to scratch when they're on this food?? so i will continue to buy it

The food causes bloating.

I fed this food for 3 years, and our Jacky kept having flatulence and didn’t really enjoy eating it either. Then we switched to Rinti wet food, and ever since he’s been having it, everything’s fine. Great digestion – no sign of flatulence anymore. And the icing on the cake is that he can’t get enough of this wet food. He absolutely loves eating it.

For hyperactive dogs!

Even for cerebral allergies, a great option – the dog becomes noticeably calmer and more focused within just a week of exclusive feeding!

was helpful

Our two Miniature Pinschers always had skin problems—not dramatic, but enough that we had to visit the vet. Before, I fed them good-quality meat, minerals, vitamins, and things like potatoes or rice, but their coat still wasn’t great. \n,But just 4 days after starting this food, you could already see how they suddenly started to shine—really amazing. Let’s see if it lasts...

Bought as a temporary solution

I bought a small bag of this food as a temporary solution until my usual food (fresh meat and occasionally Platinum) gets delivered. Honestly, I don’t really like this food just based on its composition and ingredients, but our rather picky dogs love it, as I already knew from a sample. And before I end up having to throw away or give away another bag of food because they don’t like it...\n\n,So, my conclusion: In terms of composition, it’s not really ideal, but in terms of the dogs’ acceptance, it’s very good. \n\n,Whether it actually helps with skin problems, I can’t say after just a few days, especially since my dogs don’t have any issues apart from occasional dandruff (which is due to seasonal coat changes). For real skin problems, I would approach it differently anyway and reconsider their entire diet.

A fantastic feed

We’ve been feeding this food to our Jack Russell ever since he became fully grown. We’ve never had any issues with his coat; he has an absolutely beautiful coat. He eats the food without fuss, and his digestion is excellent. We would never switch.

Very well tolerated

My terrier mix loves it. She has an extremely sensitive stomach and digestive system, but she tolerates this food really well. \n,I switched to this food not just because of her skin and coat, but also because she used to pounce on "horse droppings" like she was absolutely starving. \n,I thought maybe she needed a bit more grain in her diet. And it seems I was right—the interest in "horse droppings" isn’t as dramatic anymore.

Very good food

We’ve been feeding Dermacomfort to our Jack Russell for 12 months now (he’s turning two years old), and I’m very satisfied with it. The skin and coat condition of my little one are excellent, and the food is very well tolerated. \n\n,A great decision by RC is the introduction of the new 4 kg pack sizes. Our dog only weighs 6.5 kg, so the 10 kg bag was really too much, and the 1.5 kg bag was too little. With the 4 kg bags, RC has really hit the mark. Thank you for making this change. By the way, so far only PetsZo offers these new pack sizes. A big thank you to this shop as well for always staying up to date.

P
Petra

Both of my Yorkies have very severe skin and coat problems, including intense itching, crusting, etc. My female dog really likes the food, and her skin issues have already improved, meaning she scratches herself much less. Unfortunately, my male dog doesn’t like dry food, meaning he only eats a few bits now and then, so it’s impossible to say anything about its effect on his skin and coat. \n\n,By the way, I’d like to agree with the opinion of the previous reviewer, Julia. You should only rate a food if your own dog actually eats it, because otherwise, you can’t say anything about positive or negative effects on skin, coat, etc. Just because your dog doesn’t touch a certain food doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. So please don’t let such reviews influence you.

J
Julia
Well received

Well, my dog loves eating it even though he’s very picky. \n\n,Also, I don’t think it’s fair when some people here give the food a bad rating just because their own dog doesn’t eat it. \n,That doesn’t say anything about the quality of the food, so maybe they should just skip leaving a review.
