Description

Formulated for the specific demands of acute and chronic kidney disease — low phosphorus to slow progression, and reduced protein of higher quality so toxin load falls without costing muscle mass.

Important — please read before ordering

  • Please consult your vet before using this food or extending the feeding period.
  • Regular check-ups are essential to monitor kidney function.
  • If your cat's health deteriorates, seek veterinary advice immediately.

How it works

  • Low phosphorus — helps slow the progression of renal disease
  • Reduced protein load with higher-quality protein — balances toxin reduction against muscle preservation
  • Chicken flavour — well accepted by cats with reduced appetite
  • Can be fed long-term to cats with chronic kidney failure

Trace element figures are printed on the pouch — please refer to the packaging, as the published values were incorrectly labelled.

Feeding guide

Cat's weight Wet food only Wet + dry food
2kg 1¾ pouches 1 pouch + 15g
4kg 3½ pouches 3 pouches + 10g
6kg 5¼ pouches 4 pouches + 25g

For wet feeding alone, add ¼ pouch per additional 1kg of bodyweight daily. For combination feeding, add 15g of dry food per additional kilogram. Your vet should confirm the right amount for your cat. Ensure fresh drinking water is always available.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from standard NF Renal Function?
Advanced Care is the newer formulation. Under veterinary assessment you can transition from the original NF Renal Function to this one.

Why does wet food suit kidney disease?
Cats with declining kidney function lose more fluid through urine, and wet food contributes substantially to daily intake in a way dry food can't.

Do I need a prescription in the UK?
No prescription is legally required, but this is a therapeutic diet for a diagnosed condition and should be fed on your vet's advice.

Delivered across the UK — free delivery on orders over £59.99.

Care

General Care & Storage
To get the most out of your Petszo delivery, please keep the following in mind:

  • Edibles: Keep food and treats tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry environment.
  • Fabrics & Beds: Gently wipe clean or wash at 30ºC (always check the individual label first). Do not bleach.
  • Safety First: Regularly check toys and accessories for damage and remove them if broken.
  • Note: Always refer to the specific packaging for exact instructions.

Getting the most out of your Petszo order comes down to storing things properly and checking them regularly. Here's what matters.

Food and treats

Keep dry food tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Resealing the bag or transferring it to an airtight container helps stop the fats going stale, which is the usual reason a dog or cat suddenly goes off a food they previously liked.

Opened wet food should be covered and refrigerated, and used within about 24 hours. Serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the fridge — cold food is noticeably less appealing to most pets and can be harder on sensitive stomachs.

Many treat pouches contain a small oxygen absorber sachet to keep the contents fresh. This isn't edible — remove and discard it before giving your pet the treat.

Beds, blankets and fabric items

Most fabric items can be gently wiped clean or machine washed at 30°C, but always check the individual care label first — padding and covers vary between products. Don't use bleach, as residue can irritate skin and paws.

Removable covers are worth washing more often than you'd think, particularly for pets with skin sensitivities.

Toys and chews

Check toys and accessories regularly for damage, and remove anything that's cracked, split or losing pieces. Small fragments are a genuine choking and blockage risk.

Always supervise your pet with chews and rawhide products, and take away any piece small enough to be swallowed whole. Match the chew size to your pet — a chew intended for a small dog won't last long with a large one, and creates more risk.

Harnesses, collars and leads

Check the fit periodically, especially on growing puppies and kittens. As a rule you should be able to slide two fingers comfortably under any strap — tighter risks rubbing, looser risks your pet backing out of it.

Inspect stitching, buckles and clips for wear, and replace anything showing damage before it fails on a walk.

Litter trays and small pet enclosures

Scoop clumping litter daily and top up as needed; a full change every 1–2 weeks is typical, more often with several cats sharing a tray. Clean the tray itself with hot water and mild detergent rather than strong disinfectants, some of which are toxic to cats.

For small pet enclosures, spot-clean soiled bedding daily and do a full change weekly.

Switching foods

Introduce any new food gradually over roughly 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts into the current food. Sudden changes are one of the most common causes of digestive upset, and it's easily avoided.

Always check the product packaging. The guidance here is general — individual products carry their own storage, washing and feeding instructions, and those take precedence. If you're unsure about something, or your pet has a specific health condition, speak to your vet.

Delivery

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of you placing them. Delivery time after dispatch depends on the shipping method chosen at checkout. You'll receive tracking details by email once your order is on its way, so you can follow its progress with the carrier.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes — delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. Orders below that threshold are charged at the rate shown at checkout before you pay.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We don't ship internationally at present. Please note that a small number of items are shipped from outside the UK and may take a little longer to arrive — this is noted on the individual product page where it applies.

What if my order is late?

Carrier delays occasionally happen, particularly around public holidays or in bad weather. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, get in touch with your order number and we'll chase it. If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we'll send a replacement or issue a refund.

How do I track my order?

Once your order ships, we email you tracking details. Use these to check live delivery status directly with the carrier.

Returns & refunds

Can I return something if I change my mind?

Yes. Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us you'd like to cancel, and a further 14 days to send the items back. Items need to be unused, in their original packaging and in the condition you received them. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. Full details are in our Refund & Return Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

We'll put it right. Under UK law you have up to 30 days to reject a faulty item for a full refund. For transit damage, contact us ideally within 48 hours of delivery with photos of both the item and the packaging. We cover return postage on faulty or incorrect items and will offer a full refund or a replacement.

Are there items I can't return?

For hygiene and safety reasons, opened or unsealed pet food and treats, used grooming products, personalised items and gift cards can't be returned unless they're faulty.

How long do refunds take?

Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether it's approved. Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving the goods, back to your original payment method.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes — email support@petszo.co.uk with your order number any time before dispatch. If it's already gone out, you can return it under the 14-day change-of-mind period once it arrives.

Products

Do I need a prescription for veterinary diets?

No prescription is legally required in the UK to buy veterinary diet foods. However, these products are formulated for diagnosed conditions, so we strongly recommend speaking to your vet before starting one — and having your pet checked at least every six months while feeding it. If your pet's health worsens, seek veterinary advice straight away.

How should I switch my pet to a new food?

Gradually, over roughly 7–10 days. Mix a small amount of the new food into the current one and increase the proportion each day. Switching abruptly is a common cause of digestive upset.

How do I store pet food once it's open?

Keep dry food in a cool, dry place, ideally resealed or in an airtight container to stop the fats going stale. Opened wet food should go in the fridge and be used within about 24 hours. Always check the individual packaging, as some products have specific requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This policy explains how we process, dispatch and deliver orders, and what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Delivery charges

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £59.99. For orders below that value, the delivery charge is calculated and shown at checkout before you complete your purchase — you'll never be charged an amount you haven't seen first.

2. Order processing and dispatch

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–7 business days of the order being placed. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

Once your order has been processed you'll receive a confirmation email, followed by tracking details where available.

3. Delivery times

Time in transit after dispatch depends on the delivery method selected at checkout and your location. Total time to receive your order is therefore the dispatch window above plus the carrier's transit time.

A small number of products are shipped from outside the UK and take longer to arrive. Where this applies, it is stated clearly on the individual product page.

4. Delivery area

We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only. We do not offer international shipping at present.

Please note that a small number of bulky items cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Where this restriction applies, it is noted on the product page.

5. Tracking your order

Once your order ships, we'll email you tracking information where available. You can use this to check the live delivery status directly with the carrier.

6. Delays

Some delays are outside our control — carrier backlogs, severe weather, and public holidays being the most common. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us with your order number and we'll investigate.

If a package is confirmed lost or significantly delayed by the courier, we will send a replacement or issue a refund.

7. Incorrect delivery addresses

Please check your delivery address carefully at checkout. If you spot a mistake, contact us immediately — we can usually correct it before dispatch. Once an order has shipped to an address you provided, we may not be able to recover it.

8. Contact us

For any questions about shipping or the status of an order:

It Stinks Vile

My poorly cat will lick the sauce but not eat the lumps. The stuff smells awful and opening a sachet is generally a good way to clear a room. I think 2* is quite generous

Fussy cat approved

My 18 year old cat has tried a lot of different renal foods, he finally settled and loves both the salmon and chicken flavours. I've been buying this on site repeat for months now and its good value for money

Sphynx didn’t like it

Don’t want to give 1 star as I’m sure the food is premium. Just that my cat didn’t like it. Didn’t eat a morsel.

My cat with kidney problems tried 2 or 3 different types of kidney food but did not like either but she really likes the purina pro plan and eats it all up

early days....but we may have found

a renal food my cat actually likes. She has tried Hills & Royal Canin but just licks the gravy & leaves the 'meat'. Have tried the packs made up of food from different makers - turns her nose up at all of them. She likes kibble very much but she does need to eat wet food. We had resorted to Untamed shredded chicken in jelly, it is not a complete food but at least she ate it! Fingers crossed we have succeeded with Purina.\nShe is never going to be in the clean plate club but its a start\nxx

Excellent - Senior Cat Loves it!

My 18 year old cat who is very fussy absolutely loves this food. I am hoping it makes him feel better which is why he loves it so much. He has definitely picked up since having it as he had lost a lot of weight because of his Thyroid. His coat has improved. He is happy so I am happy :) x

Fussy pussy converted to renal food

My lovely cat Daisy is 16 yrs 6 months, and losing weight for over a year, from almost 5 Kilos to just over 3. But otherwise is in good order. She has had umpteen tests as suspected hyperthyroidism but it turns out to be stage 2 kidney disease. I dreaded trying to get her to eat a renal diet as she would only eat one brand of real tuna and consistently turned up her nose on processed bits in gravy, but is enjoying this food to my surprise. I have to mash it otherwise just licks the gravy!!

My cat loves that!

She has a very selective taste and she loves that. I usually add some warm water, to increase her intake water. The only thing I don't agree with is the manufacturer's recommendation for daily servings. My cat is 2.6kg and I am offering 3 pouches a day. According to the packaging recommendation, it would only be 2 or 2 1/4, which is very little...

Yummy!

My old guy loves the gravy too much and so I have to mash the formed meat into the gravy. It's a favourite and helps preserve his dodgy kidney function.

Couldn’t recommend highly enough

People with cats suffering from renal failure will know how difficult it can be to get them to eat. \nWe tried a total of 7 different types of renal food; Purina chicken and salmon are the only ones he’ll eat with delight. \nThe strong smell and taste (compared to the other renal wet food) keeps him healthy and happy.

Only one she will eat

I tried many different renal diets when my cat was first diagnosed with CKD. This was the only one she would eat...

Not cheap, but worth it

Lucy has always been very fussy about food, and would only eat a specific dry food. Then she stopped eating at all, and was sick every time she ate anything. After many expensive investigations, the vet diagnosed poly-cystic kidneys, and prescribed a renal diet. As my daughter's cat was also on a renal diet, I tried several foods before deciding which to buy. This is very much her favourite, and she now eats (or rather licks the gravy off) 2 pouches a day, plus a small handful of dry food.

Great renal cat food

My recently diagnosed renal cat Ykie loves this food and I must say it does smell good ! I interchange with Kattivit pouches and sometimes mix with some normal cat food she likes. I also use the additive powder in normal food too as unfortunately we know what cats are like!! I need to keep her feeding well and happy for what time she has left, she is around 16. Thank you PetsZo brilliant service and choice.

Renal diet Purina Chicken flavour

My old cat has kidney disease - I do a 50/50 mix of this with cooked fish or chicken - and he loves it. He then has half a pouch for supper and is a very happy cat, while helping keep his kidney function as efficient as possible.

My boy loves this

This is the only renal diet product my boy will consistently eat. We have tried them all.

Wonderful

My cat love this new food from Purina One. He has to have renal food and doesn't like Royal Canin, Hills or Kattovit. He can't get enough of this in either Chicken or Salmon flavours and I am so happy I have found something wonderful.

Tucky loves this food.

My cat Tucky had stopped eating his usual renal food so i thought i would try him with another brand. He instantly ate it all up and enjoyed it. This food is a very reasonable price i only ordered one box incase he didnt like it, i will now be trying him with the other flavours.

One very happy cat

My cat was diagnosed with renal failure about six months ago, and he hated every food I tried him on (Royal Canid, Hills, Kattovit). I was becoming very concerned as he was eating less than a pouch of food a day and had lost 1/5th of his body weight. He instantly loved this Purina and is now up to eating 3 pouches a day and the vet is happy with this as a diet for him (the cat, not the vet!). Reasonably priced, fast shipping.
